Mrs Woodman – Head of Eavis College Originally I come from Norfolk but moved to the West Country with my parents and brother when I was seven. I come from a long line of teachers and my dad is the Vice-Principal at Weston College so I think I was destined to be a teacher from an early age! Having completed A Levels in English Literature, English Language, History and Psychology I decided to remain in Bristol to study for a BA Honours in English and then a PGCE in Secondary Education. Since then I have never looked back as I love my job and really can’t imagine doing anything else! I got married in August 2006; I’m sure there are still some of you out there who remember me as Miss Gribble! My husband works as an Employment lawyer for a large firm in Bristol and a year ago we bought a house in Bath. In my spare time I enjoy travelling, particularly to hot and sunny climes, reading (well I am an English teacher after all!), socialising and shopping. I also try to keep fit by going to the gym regularly; I would like to say I eat healthily too but I do have a real weakness for puddings and sweets! started my teaching career seven years ago and have had many different responsibilities since then but my greatest and proudest achievement was being appointed as the new head of Eavis College. I truly believe that with the right support and guidance young people can go on to realise their dreams and this role enables me to play an active part in that process. I joined Somervale School in September 2005 and immediately felt part of the family! There is a real sense of community at this school, where everyone is valued as an individual and we all know one another; this is what makes Somervale stand out from the two other larger schools that I have taught in.
Mrs Gay - Assistant Head of Eavis College I have been at Somervale School since September 2006, after previously working at Ralph Allen School in Bath as a first aider and pupil welfare assistant for six years. I have two teenage daughters at Somervale School, who between them keep me very busy running my very own taxi service! I enjoy spending time with my family, find people fascinating and I love animals and retail therapy!
